Severnvale offer a range of activities for children, including clubs, fun days at half term, as well as birthday parties, and is a Pony Club Centre In particular it’s Clubs provide a great way to learn to look after and ride a pony as these group sessions provide 1½ hours of fully supervised instruction, including riding, grooming, care of tack, and mounted games; as well as BHS Approved Tests. They are run by the Centre’s instructors who have a wide range of qualifications, expertise and experience and can cope with children of all ages and all stages. Quite a lot of events take place during the school holidays, so look at the ‘Children’s Schedule or the ‘What’s on now?’ pages on this website, or on SVEC’s Facebook page, to see when they take place. While their children are busy, parents can take a

‘quite minute out’ and make themselves some tea

or coffee in the Gallery Café if they wish to wait -

Saturday & Sunday Clubs   A chance to have fun while learning to look after and ride a pony correctly; with fully supervised instruction, including as appropriate, riding, grooming, care of tack, and mounted games; as well as BHS Approved Tests. Lessons are are run in the following groups - including during school holidays - just choose the group that is best for you. - a special group for young riders just coming off  the lead rein; who can walk and trot, or are just starting to learn how to canter; so that they can learn more of the basic riding skills and how to  look after their pony Intermediate riders: 10.45 - 12.15 pm - a Walk & Trot group aimed at more experienced riders, who are able to canter and are learning how to jump; so that they can improve their riding skills, as well as gain additional knowledge to help them to look after their pony. Older  riders:   2.00 - 3.30 pm - this group is aimed at older riders, who are able  to canter and tackle basic jumps; so that they can  further improve their skills, and  learn a bit more  caring for their pony. This club is for clients under

25 years of age, and is open

to both none pony owners as

well as those lucky enough to own a pony.

The Severnvale Pony Club is specifically for those who do not own a pony, but would like to take part in all of the Pony Club activities. Members benefit from activities organised by Severnvale, such as rallies, camps, competitions, tests and trips. The SVEC Saturday and Sunday Clubs, as well as Juliet’s Camps all work towards the Pony Club tests and badges. The Pony Club rallies are combined with the ‘Own a Pony Days’ Members also receive magazines and other information to help them enjoy their riding, as well as the chance to achieve: Mini Achievement Badges Equine Achievement Badges Progressive Tests & Efficiency Tests Look at the ‘Children’s Schedule’ or the ‘What’s on now?’ pages to see when this Club meets. Own-a-Pony Day   These great days are run on a Tuesday and Wednesday during most school holidays and provide a child the chance to enjoy a pony for a day of activities and learning, with  flat and jumping lessons, as well as stable management. Previous riding experience required Suitable for children aged 8 years plus or who can canter confidently Includes a Pony Club Rally and activities Most activities will be undercover - however, suitable clothing must be worn to match the weather on the day -  wellington boots or long riding boots are recommended 9.00 am to 5.00 pm - please bring a packed lunch Booking required £40.00 per child (£36.00 if a Pony Club Member) Look at the ‘Children’s Schedule or the ‘What’s on now?’ pages to see when these days happen. Have-a-go Afternoon   Ever wanted to try riding? - then come and ‘have-a-go’. Meet the ponies, groom them, and have a 15 minute group ride - then enjoy a fun quiz - all in an afternoon! Jumping day   A great opportunity to improve jumping skills by taking part in this training session. It will teach you how to prepare your horse and yourself, about course design, and even about designing your own course to jump later! Intro to cross country day   This ‘hands-on’ training session is organised and run by Debbie Wilding and designed to teach you how to approach and jump a course of Cross Country Jumps, so as to improve confidence, trust and technique. Suitable for children aged 12 years plus Participants must be able to walk, trot, and canter; as well as be able to jump a 2' 6" (0.75M) course and prepare their pony / horse independently for riding Includes cross-country lesson, pony prep time and stable management Some activities will be undercover and some outdoors - so, suitable clothing must be worn to match the weather on the day - wellington boots or long riding boots are recommended Participants must bring their own body protector Booking required £TBC per child per session

These sessions take place in most school holidays

Juliet’s camps begin on 30th July and

are now in the 20th year

There are a range of camps, which  are suitable for everyone, from novice riders up to the more  experienced riders. Usually run over  one or more days, each includes lots  of fun and looking after ponies, with the option to camp; and you can bring your own pony, or borrow one from Severnvale.

These instructional camps are run for children so

that they can enjoy the thrill of owning their own

pony for a few days

This year there will be four camps of mixed ability, each run under the professional supervision of qualified  staff; allowing each child to receive valuable training in  riding and stable management. The price includes lessons, food & stabling for your child's pony or horse, or the use of a school pony. Camp details Each camp involves 3 nights away, enabling participants to develop their confidence and skills; and is suitable for novice riders and those on lead reins, right through to more experienced riders, who are able to canter and are learning how to jump; to those that can confidently jump a course and already have a working knowledge of care and handling of their pony or horse. Participants must be 8 years of age to camp.

These 4-day / 3-night Camps start at 2.00 pm on

the Monday and finish at 5.00 pm on the Thursday -

the cost is £235 (a non-refundable deposit £55 is

required and a cancellation fee may apply)

Individual days can be accommodated from Tuesday to Thursday, between 9.00 am to 4.30 pm on each day at a cost of £60 per day. Additionally, a flexi-time early start or late finish can be accommodated; or a single night stay can be arranged, at an additional cost. Book a birthday party for a minimum of 4 people and SVEC will do the rest You will groom your ponies, get them ready for gymkhana games and then have plenty of fun when playing the games. You’ll go back home tired and with a smile. You are very welcome to use the Gallery Café area for any food you wish to bring. Things for children

Please note: Cancellation – Should the booking be cancelled, other than for a proven medical or equally valid reason, then the following refund will be made: o Up to two weeks prior to the camp – full camp fee paid, less the deposit o Up to one week prior to the camp – 50% of the full camp fee o In the week prior to the camp – nil Juliet must be made aware of any medications required during camp with written instructions on dosage.  All medication must be given to Juliet at the start of the camp. Severnvale reserves the right to change or cancel any camp - but where possible will offer an alternative. Where an alternative cannot be found then the camp payment will be refunded.
Bookings: Bookings must be made on an Application Form (this can be downloaded) and be complete with a deposit - people who have written their names down but have not paid a deposit or completed forms will loose their place, as paying clients will be given priority when they book. The deposit for the camp is non-refundable and should be paid as soon as possible to ensure a place at the selected camp. The remainder of the fee must be paid no later than two weeks before the camp - a surcharge of £10 will be made if the balance not paid within this time. Cheques’ should be made payable to Severnvale  Riding LLP. 
The Camp Fee includes; all riding and stable management lessons; food on each day of attendance; use of school ponies or a stall with hay and straw provided for own pony (if a stable is required then there will be an additional £25 charge). Each camp will cater for all abilities, from lead rein to advanced level, and will teach each rider at their own level of ability. Even if they have never ridden before and want to join in, then they will be accommodated! If you are not sure which camp you should come to, please speak to Juliet who will also try to group the children by ages, friendships and ponies available. If you are available for several camp dates let Juliet know. Those camping at Severnvale must provide their own tent.  Two adults and several responsible teenagers will be staying with the children at night. There is a toilet and shower on the stable yard.
